Print, Hillview

Print, Hillview
Original watercolor by Gene Gill of Portland, Oregon. Signed and numbered Giclee print on heavy watercolor stock. 21" X 27".
From the top of 11th Street in Astoria, we look north across the Columbia River to see a large freighter move silently across the vista. The black, red and white behemoth is about to receive her River Pilot for the remainder of her trip up river to Longview or Portland. As we gaze down from the hilltop perch, we notice cars going up and down the hill, and lining the side of the road as well as a church piercing the sky with its spires. Gently, the breeze picks up and the trees next to the road begin to rustle as if they are waving goodbye to the freighter. This is a beautiful painting is filled with life and movement, and it documents a daily sight in this oldest American city west of the Rocky Mountains.
