Print, Harbor Sculpture
Original Watercolor by artist Gene Gill of Portland, Oregon. Signed and numbered Giclee Print on heavy watercolor stock, 21" X 27".
A well used dolphin piling formation commands the foreground as it waits for yet another large vessel to tie up. The scene is painted as the sun settles into the Pacific Ocean, casting its multicolored hues on the Astoria waterfront. The dolphin, surrounding water and waterfront pilings are bathed in soft lavendar and violet hues. Behind the waterfront rises the deep, dark, secret green of Astoria's woods. So secret in fact, that only a few of Astoria's famous older homes are allowed to peek out as if they are looking for the next incoming ship. The center area of the painting is also bathed in the light of the setting sun, but this time it glows of yellows and seinna tones. The overall mood of this painting suggest coming home after a long day to a warm snug welcome.
